We are incredibly grateful for the generosity of those who choose to donate Seedballs to local organizations. Would you like to receive free seedballs to “Throw and Grow”?
Our Regreening partners work hard to ensure seedballs are distributed in their community, sharing photos and gps locations as well as
regularly visiting planting sites for updates.
In order to qualify as a regreening partner, we ask that you agree to comply with the following:
* Acknowledge receipt of donations by direct email to donor within 3-5 business days
* Arrange timely collection of donated Seedballs
* Share photos and status updates on how and where the Seedballs were distributed
* Drop GPS pin(s) on Seedballs sites, and revisit after several months time to check on growth progress.

Our Regreening Champion Kit features a wooden slingshot and mini box of 15 indigenous tree seedballs. Kids are encouraged to tackle habitat fragmentation by slinging seedballs into developed spaces void of plants (like medians and eroded areas).
An Artisan Merit Badge recognizes the work done to regreen our beautiful Kenya! We can customize the merit badge with your childs’ name – simply add this in the order notes when checking out.
Seedball in style with our one-of-a-kind beaded slingshots. Hand beaded by expert Masai ladies near Amboseli, this is sure to set the style for your next tree planting activity. Included is one kilo of indigenous tree seedballs, which is almost 600 tree seeds!
Steps to successful seedballing:
1: Think like a tree: where would you like to grow up? Near a bit of water, free from invasive weeds and a great view of the sun
2: Get your fancy slingshot at the ready, aiming to plant trees
3: Throw … wait… and drop a map pin so you can check back later to see where your trees grow.

The rubber comes from old gaskets from the Zambian copper mines, the leather pouch is made from off-cuts from Bata Shoes, Limuru, the slingshots are made by specialized slingshot makers in Sultan Hamud.
Beaded: one of a kind fancy slingshots that are hand beaded by some expert Maasai ladies near Amboseli. Assorted colors available.
Recycled Plastic: in collaboration with the team at Plastiki Rafiki, these unique slingshots are made from upcyled plastic that has been melted down and molded into handles for extra strength.
The dryland species are native acacia trees from seeds carefully selected by KEFRI. Suited to dry and arid areas. Highland species thrive at higher altitude with increased rainfall. SeedBalls Kenya is partnering with a select few organisations that are active in conservation programs within Kenya. SeedBalls can be purchased here and we will deliver your seedballs, of the appropriate species mix, to the recipient of your choice. These organisations are eager to receive your donated seedballs and have committed with us to distribute them within their areas of activity that have the greatest need for reforestation.[html_block id="512"]
This method of distributing grass seed is effective and efficient. Grass can be expected to germinate quickly, and re-seed for future use.
Eragrostis superba (masai love grass)
Perennial up to 1 m tall, erect or lower stems bent. Usually found on sandy or gravel soils occasionally on clay also in disturbed places by roadsides.
Cenchrus ciliaris (buffel foxtail grass)
Occurs in the more arid parts of southern Africa and tropical Africa. Introduced to Australia and other hot, drier areas of the world where it has been imported as cultivated pasture. Foxtail buffalo grass grows in dry, warm parts. It grows in all types of soil, but mostly in sandy soil and other well-drained soil types. It is often found along roadsides where it utilizes the additional runoff rainwater.
Enteropogon macrostachyus (bush rye grass)
Due to high germination capacity, the species fully covers the ground within a few seasons, and it It can be planted in mixtures with other range grasses such as Cenchrus ciliaris. It is highly palatable and is normally commonly overgrazed due to high preference by livestock.
