With a few tips, you will be able to easily light your Cookswell oven using eco-charcoal.
First step: always ensure you begin with the oven doors and temperature regulator door fully open. If you prefer to watch a short video, >please click here< for a guide.
There are several methods for this:

Cookswell Chimney Starter
-
-
- place the starter on a heat safe surface
- add newspaper into the base of the chimney
- loosely stack charcoal inside the chimney
- continue feeding paper until the charcoal starts to light
- empty the lit charcoal from the chimney into your oven liner

|
Firestarters (sawdust and wax rolls)
-
-
- Loosely stack charcoal in the oven liner, a mix of small and medium pieces
- break a firestarter in half, and light one end
- put a few small pieces of charcoal on top of the firelighter – don’t overload, allow for airflow
- when the charcoal lights, add more pieces slowly to build up heat

Accelerant

Firebox Method (not recommended)
- open the heat regulator and add 2- 3 full sheets of newspaper
- optional: dip paper in cooking oil to accelerate
- add a small amount of medium sized charcoal to the liner
- light the newspaper and fan it to increase burn, keep adding newspaper until charcoal is lit
- we don’t recommend this method, as it reduces the life of the firebox
