About African Forest:
African Forest is a holistic agro-forestry social enterprise, founded in 2006, and based on the edge of Soysambu Conservancy, a 22,000 ha ranch surrounding Lake Elementeita, in the Rift Valley. African Forest has a 60 ha plot on the edge of the ranch, where they have an indigenous organic tree nursery and seed centre and trial plantations of Planet Positive Forestry. They also produce and promote, in conjunction with the local communities, sustainable NTFP’s (non-timber forest products) including herbal medicines. Services include plantation establishment and management, reforestation and sustainable development planning and implementation, as well as assistance in raising green finance.

Our charcoal lighter chimney is the easiest, quickest & cleanest way to light charcoal for your jiko. Simply fill the Chimney Starter with your choice of charcoal, place newspaper underneath the grate and light it on fire. The fire rises through the holes in the grate and the “chimney effect” causes the charcoal to light from the bottom all the way up to the top. In just 10 – 20 minutes your charcoal will be hot and ready. Carefully pour the hot coals into the clay liner of your Cookswell jiko and you are ready to go!
Our Regreening Champion Kit features a wooden slingshot and mini box of 15 indigenous tree seedballs. Kids are encouraged to tackle habitat fragmentation by slinging seedballs into developed spaces void of plants (like medians and eroded areas).
An Artisan Merit Badge recognizes the work done to regreen our beautiful Kenya! We can customize the merit badge with your childs’ name – simply add this in the order notes when checking out.
